• 甚麼是嶺南文學？ 而嶺南文學又有何特色？ 

 

嶺南文學是一種能充分體現嶺南文化和地方特色的語言藝術。當中的嶺南俗文學，有著濃厚的鄉土氣息，更深受嶺南人民歡迎和喜愛。古代的嶺南文學是在嶺南地區的本土文化基礎上，再逐步融合荊楚（為古時的楚國，現今的湖北省）和中原文化而形成的。近代的嶺南文學則隨著宋、明兩朝發達的海上貿易，中國對外的文化交流日漸頻繁而出現。因此，近代的嶺南文化不但吸收了外來文化的精髓，再與古時及本土文化的精華相結合後，形成別具特色的本土地區文化。 
 

• 嶺南文學的發展可約分為四個時期：

1st ：周代至初唐，是嶺南文學的萌芽期

2nd：唐代至元代，是嶺南文學的成長期 

​

3rd：明代至清代，是嶺南文學的成熟期。除了詩外，此時期的詞和散文都有長足的發展，戲曲和小說也有不少佳作

​

4th：鴉片戰爭開始至民國初年，是嶺南文學的更新期

• What is Lingnan literature? What is special about Lingnan literature? 

 

Lingnan literature is a language art that fully embodies Lingnan culture and local characteristics. Lingnan folk literature has a strong local and rural feeling and is more popular among people of Lingnan. Besides, the ancient Lingnan literature was based on the local culture in the Lingnan area, then processively merging with the culture of Jingchu (where the ancient Chu country and now Hubei province) and the Central Plains Culture. Modern Lingnan literature appeared with the development of maritime trade in the Song and Ming dynasties and the frequent cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries were increased. Therefore, the modern Lingnan culture not only absorbed the essence of foreign culture but also combined with the ancient and local culture to form a unique local culture. 

 

• The four periods of the development of Lingnan literature：

1st: From the Zhou Dynasty to the early Tang Dynasty, it was the budding period of Lingnan literature.

2nd: From the Tang Dynasty to the Yuan Dynasty, it was the growth period of Lingnan literature.

 

3rd: From the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, it was the mature period of Lingnan literature. Apart from poetry, the Ci (a type of lyric poetry in the tradition of Classical Chinese poetry) and prose of this period have developed by leaps and bounds, and there are also many excellent works of opera and novels. 

 

4th: From the beginning of the Opium War to the early years of the Republic of China, it was the renewal period of Lingnan literature.
